The Brief

The client builds large integrated communications monitoring systems and required a range of scanning radio receivers to meet higher customer expectations. Databerry Systems was contracted to design the digital control hardware and firmware, user interfaces, and remote-control protocols for this new line of products.
 

The Deliverable

• Numerous prototype embedded controller hardware modules.

• Prototype front-panels incorporating graphical displays and user actuators.

• Firmware suites implementing low level RF circuit control, high-level radio management, user interface management, and remote control protocol.

• Software libraries enabling easy integration of these products into the enterprise systems.

• Documentation packs enabling production.

• Smart test jigs enabling automated post-production testing.

• End user and system integrator reference manuals.

 

The Outcome

These new radios formed the basis of many turnkey systems for the client enabling them to address their customers’ needs.They also became viable stand-alone products and were successfully marketed as such. The technologies developed for this project were later re-used and extended in a number of other products.
